Ballet Appreciation Series:
Don Quixote
Act III Kitri Variation Workshop
For Teen and Adult Dancers
1 - 2 April 2023
9.00am - 11.30am
Kickstart the new year with the first Ballet Appreciation Series: Don Quixote.
Set in Spain, Don Quixote centers on the love affair between Kitri and Basillo, and their attempts to escape Kitri’s arranged marriage to the wealthy fop, Gamache. In Kitri and Basilio’s attempt to run away, they meet Don Quixote, an old knight, and his faithful companion, Sancho Panza.
In this workshop, you will be immersed in the story of Don Quixote by Miguel de Cervantes and dance to Ludwig Minkus’ compositions. The 2-session workshop includes a short sharing about the ballet, technique classes and a study on Kitri Variation in Act III where you will learn to dance with a hand fan.
On the last day of the workshop, you will be given the opportunity to invite a guest to the studio to watch your showcase of the variation.

By the end of the workshop, you will:

-
add a new variation to your existing repertoire;
-
